Configuring AI Response Settings
Engati's Generative AI feature empowers you to provide personalized and relevant responses to customer queries by leveraging their knowledge resources. With this powerful tool, you can upload relevant documents, policies, FAQs, and other text-based content, which the AI system will analyze and learn from, creating a tailored knowledge base of your own.
To access the settings, navigate to Train > Generative AI and then click on the "Configuration" tab.
To set up the AI's response settings, there are two types of configurations you can use. To help you understand these configurations, we have included detailed explanations for each field.
In the basic configuration, you have access to fundamental settings that allow you to quickly set up the AI to generate responses tailored to your industry and output preferences.
Domain : This option allows you to select the specific industry or topic area that your business operates in, such as Ecommerce, Healthcare, Finance, Education (EdTech), or a general Default option. Choosing the relevant domain helps tailor the AI's responses to your field.
Assistant Role : You can create a custom name for the AI assistant responding to your customers or users.
Models : This section lets you choose which AI model to use for generating responses:
- Chat Model: If integration is Google PALM , the chat-models will be Gemini or Google-bison
Response Format : These settings control the overall style and length of the AI's responses:
- Format Type: Choose whether responses should be in paragraph form or bullet point lists.
- Response Length: Set responses to be Concise (shorter) or Detailed (more in-depth).
Show Document Link : Enable this option to include a link back to the original source document that the AI's response was based on.
Bulk Upload Limit : This setting determines the maximum number of URLs or links you can upload at once during a bulk upload of your reference materials.
The different configuration options allow you to customize how the AI assistant communicates and tailor its knowledge to best fit your specific business needs.
For more granular control over the AI's output, the advanced configuration offers additional customization options. This section empowers you to create custom prompts that guide the AI in generating responses specific to your business and customer queries.
Top Matching Documents : This setting allows you to choose how many of the most relevant documents the AI should consider when generating a response. A higher number provides more context, as it would reduce the context when exceeding the token length
Chat History : This option determines how much of the previous conversation history the AI will use as context when formulating its next response. More context can lead to more relevant replies, but too much may confuse the AI and at the same time exceed the token length.
Custom Prompt You can enter a custom prompt in this field, which will override the default prompt used by the AI. Be careful not to input anything invalid, as it may cause errors. Custom prompts allow you to better guide the AI's responses for your specific use case.
- Rephrase Custom Prompt: Guidelines on how to create clear custom prompts that provide helpful context for the conversation.
- Q&A Custom Prompt: Specific instructions for the AI to follow when generating responses in a question-and-answer format.
Enable Auto Refresh : Turning this on will automatically refresh and re-index any website URLs you've provided at a set interval, typically once per week. This ensures the AI has access to the latest information.
Enable Acronym Support : With this enabled, the AI will recognize and understand any acronyms or abbreviations found in your uploaded business documents.
Intent Setup This section allows you to specify how to interpret the intent or goal behind users' queries:
System Intent: Pre-defined intents based on your selected industry/domain. Custom Intent: Add your own custom intents beyond the system defaults. Selected Intents: Review and approve which system and custom intents the AI should detect.
Data Source Prioritization : Here you can prioritize certain document categories over others when the AI is searching for relevant information to include in its responses.
To prioritize a category:
- Upload documents and assign them to a specific category (e.g. "Policies")
- Add that category name to the Selected Categories list
- In this scenario, for a query, if matched contents have references from documents of categories “Policies” and “Term of Use”. Content from “Policies” will be prioritized.
Integrating your business information and customizing the AI's responses ensures that customers receive accurate, on-brand support. This not only enhances customer satisfaction but also fosters growth for your company.
