Step 2 : Generate the list of contacts.

When creating your contact list, remember to save it in either xlsx or csv format. Ensure to include the essential "phone_no" as the mandatory header to proceed with your broadcast error-free. This attribute alone is sufficient for a smooth processing.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to permute and combine system and custom attributes according to your specific use case.

For reference, you can download the sample xlsx.csv file.

Step 3 : Import contact list

When adding your contact list, you can choose between two options: single country and multiple countries. Select the option that corresponds to the phone numbers of your intended audience.

a. User Country List

Within the user country list, you will encounter two options:

  • Single Country
  • Multiple Countries

Under what circumstances should you choose each option?

Based on your target audience, you have two choices: opt for a single-country option if your audience is specific to one country, or choose the multiple countries option if your audience is global and uses various country codes in their phone numbers.

Single Country:

  • If your audience is specific to one country, opt for the single-country option.
  • This ensures that only phone numbers with the specified country code will receive the broadcast.
  • Choose this if all the numbers share the same country code, as the default country code for this option will be applied to all listed numbers.

Multiple Countries:

  • Use this option when targeting a global audience with phone numbers from various countries.
  • Phone numbers in lists with multiple countries will not be automatically formatted. Input phone numbers in the format <country code><phone number>. For example, if the country code is +91 and the number is 98765432, input the phone number as 9198765432.

b. Upload Contact List

Click on browse and upload a file in either 'xlsx' or 'CSV' format, with a maximum of 50k contacts. The default limit is set at 10k.

Note: Do not manually insert a country code from a different country into any numbers in the datasheet to avoid errors. If numbers already have the country code of the selected country, they will be processed as is.

c. Contact List Name

Assign a name to the uploaded contact list, which will be used when scheduling a broadcast. As the default limit is set at 10k, only the initial 10,000 records will be uploaded.

Step 4 : Post Import of contact list

Upon uploading the file, three sections—Contact List, Explore History, and Import History—will become visible on your portal.

In this area, you can view all the files that have been successfully uploaded.

Export History

Here, you can access logs documenting the downloaded contact lists.

Import History

In this section, the accessible characteristics include:

  • Requested Time: The timestamp indicates when you submitted the contact list file.
  • Completed Time: The timestamp denoting the successful completion of the file upload process.
  • Total Records: The overall count of contacts present in the uploaded file.
  • Error Count: The tally of instances where WhatsApp is not enabled or the number is incorrectly formatted, resulting in an error count.
  • Status: The display of the upload status for your file.

That covers everything about Import Users. I trust that reading this documentation has provided a clearer understanding of how to make the most of the Import Users section on our platform.
