Template Message

Best Practices

3min

When sending messages via WhatsApp for your business, it's important to follow best practices and guidelines to ensure your templates get approved and provide a positive experience for customers. By keeping your templates clear, concise, and compliant, you can effectively engage your audience on this widely used messaging platform.

Best Practices for WhatsApp Template Messages

  • Ensure templates are free of spelling and major grammatical errors. WhatsApp has a high chance of rejecting templates with such mistakes, though minor punctuation or grammar issues may be acceptable. Proofread carefully.
  • It's essential to select the correct message type and language while submitting your template. Mismatched languages or formats can lead to rejection.
  • Keep templates as concise as possible to effectively convey the required information without overwhelming the recipient. Brevity improves readability.
  • Consider templates as conversation starters, aiming to turn them into two-way communication by prompting responses from customers. Two-way conversations don't incur additional template fees from WhatsApp, reducing costs.
  • Before submitting, get feedback from teammates or coworkers to ensure your written template is accurate, clear, and effectively communicates the intended message.
  • Remind customers of the context and reason they gave permission to receive messages from you. This contextual reminder enhances trust and transparency.
  • Avoid sending surveys or using the word "survey." Instead, politely ask for feedback from customers to gather insights.

WhatsApp Template Guidelines

There are specific guidelines around the two main template message types:

Standard (Text Only)

  • Maximum of 1024 characters, including variables

By diligently following WhatsApp's template message guidelines and implementing best practices, you significantly increase the likelihood of your templates being swiftly approved. This allows you to initiate positive, compliant conversations with customers on this highly engaging messaging channel. Crafting clear, tailored, and contextual templates demonstrates your brand's attention to delivering an exceptional customer experience.
